Re "LA County needs more supervisors" (Dan Walters, Nov. 4): Los Angeles County does not need more supervisors, especially along racial lines. Instead, it needs bifurcation or just plain partitioning.
Residents in northern Los Angeles County on the other side of the summits should have their own county with either Lancaster or Palmdale as their county seat. Residents in San Fernando Valley need their own county, too. So do those in eastern Los Angeles County.
And Los Angeles County is not the only California county that needs bifurcation. Alameda County needs it, too.
Residents of Sunol, Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin need to be in their own county while those on the other side of the Hayward and Fremont hills need their own county.
We don't have the same values as the folks on the other side of the hills to the west of us have and we should no longer remain in Alameda County.
