For the second time this season, Sacramento State junior quarterback Garrett Safron has been named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Safron had a school-record 505 yards of total offense in the Hornets' 51-48 overtime loss to Montana on Saturday at Hornet Stadium.
He completed 41 of 58 passes for 412 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. His completions and passing yardage set school records.
UC Davis senior opposite Devon Damelio was named the Big West Conference women's volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced. She totaled 40 kills and 27 digs in victories over UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton.
Del Potro, Wawrinka win

Juan Martin del Potro, in the ATP World Tour Finals for the first time since 2007, beat Richard Gasquet 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5 to open Group B play in London.
Gasquet produced some stunning shots but struggled to return del Potro's big serve in a match laced with unforced errors and winners by both players.
