Top athlete comes to McKinley Park to talk about diabetes

Jay Hewitt is an accomplished athelete and diabetic who is coming to Sacramento to give a motivational talk on behalf of the American Diabetes Association.

Hewitt will talk with Sacramento residents about how people with Type 1 diabetes can learn to manage their conditions in order to pursue their dreams.

He will appear from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Clunie Community Center’s Grand Hall in McKinley Park, 601 Alhambra Blvd., in east Sacramento.

Hewitt is reported to be the only athlete with diabetes to qualify for the U.S. National Triathlon Team. He will share his experiences with attendees and speak of his drive not to let diabetes hold him back.
