Two federal agencies are seeking 11 volunteers to serve on a committee that helps set policies concerning recreation on federal lands in California.

The Recreation Resource Advisory Committee serves the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. The committee provides recommendations on recreation fees for federal lands. Each member serves for three years, starting in March 2014. Alternates may also be chosen, who would serve if a vacancy occurs on the committee.

Five people are sought to represent non-motorized winter recreation such as snowshoeing, cross country, downhill skiing and snowboarding; summer motorized recreation, such as motorcycles, boaters, and off-highway vehicles; and summer non-motorized recreation, such as backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, canoeing and rafting.

Three people are sought to represent non-motorized outfitters and guides and local environmental groups; and three representing state tourism, Indian tribes and local government.

Nominations must be submitted by Dec. 8. For information, contact Frances Enkoji at the Forest Service, (707) 562-8846, R5rrac@fs.fed.us; Jane Arteaga at BLM, (916) 978-4654, jarteaga@blm.gov; or visit: http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/recreation/racs.
