Sunny skies predicted for the weekend in Sacramento

The National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies for the long holiday weekend.

Friday’s high temperature is forecast to hit 75 degrees for downtown Sacramento.

“We’re a little above normal temperature-wise. Normal is 68 degrees for this time of year,” said weather service forecaster Mike Smith.

Temperatures will hover in the low-70s through Monday, when a weak storm is scheduled to encroach on the region.

“We have only a slight chance of rain. The system will bring cooler temperatures and cloudy skies,” Smith said.

Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. East southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 73. Light and variable wind.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46. Light and variable wind.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Calm wind.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Veterans Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 71.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.
