Re "With survey, Vatican seeks laity comment on family issues" (Page A10, Nov. 9): It's good that Pope Francis is polling Catholics on important church issues such as same-sex marriage and divorce. However, one important issue missing in his 39-question poll is the ordination of women as priests.
That's a family-related issue that could provide our daughters, granddaughters and beyond an important opportunity that doesn't exist today. Fortunately, the pope doesn't have to poll on that item. A March 2012 poll by the internationally recognized Pew Research Center showed that 59 percent of U.S Catholics endorse women as priests. Pope Francis said the case is closed on that issue, but should it be?
