Published: Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 - 12:48 pm

A Sacramento Superior Court jury has convicted Chema Keomi Strawthers of first-degree murder in the Sept. 17, 2011, shooting death of Ahmed Ishaq, who was found wounded at Northgate Boulevard at Highway 160.

According to evidence at trial, Strawthers, now 32, was on parole at the time of the shooting after a previous conviction for voluntary manslaughter. Prosecutors said he shot Ishaq, 37, over an unpaid $150 debt.

Judge James E. McFetridge scheduled the sentencing for Strawthers, who was convicted Friday, on Jan. 24.
