Citrus Heights police have released a sketch today of the suspect involved in the beating death of a disabled man last month.
On Oct. 23, just after 6:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an assault which occurred on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of Greenback Lane.
They found the victim, Christopher Sorgani, 49, with serious head injuries. He died four days later.
Police said Sorgani had gotten off work at the Employment Development Department office in downtown at 5 p.m. the day he was attacked and had taken a combination of buses and light rail home to Citrus Heights.
A witness reported seeing Sorgani being struck by another man on the sidewalk in front of the Spring Creek Apartments, 7761 Greenback Lane. The suspect was described as white, in his 20s, about 5-foot-9, with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.
Since the attack occurred when there was heavy traffic on Greenback Lane, police believed there were numerous witnesses to the attack. A witness did come forward after the attack was reported in the media, and provided the description for the composite sketch of the suspect.
Citrus Heights police is still investigating the incident, which appears to be an attack by a stranger with no known motive.
