Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis will receive the 2013 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, touted as the nation’s highest presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement and visionary leadership.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker Wednesday announced that Sutter Davis was one of three U.S. organizations to win the award, recognizing the area hospital’s contributions to health care.
The 2013 Baldrige Award recipients were selected from a field of 22 applicants that were evaluated by an independent board of examiners in seven areas: leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; operations focus; and results.
Since formation in 1988, 102 awards have been presented to 96 organizations, including six repeat winners.
The 2013 Baldrige Awards will be presented at April 2014 ceremonies in Baltimore, Md.
