Nonprofits, day programs offer added resources for elder care

Re "Elder care crisis haunts families" (Page A1, Nov. 13): There are a few more resources available for Victoria Bollinger and others like her who are struggling to fulfill the role of caregiver to an aging parent while also fulfilling the responsibilities of wife and mother. Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center and the Alzheimer's Association offer many valuable resources for those facing the challenges of finding quality elder care for a parent or loved one. Adult day programs for people with memory loss are another welcome resource for caregivers who, aside from caring for their loved ones, are also struggling to fulfill their own social and professional responsibilities in their daily lives. Community-based, fee-for-service adult day programs also make it possible for aging parents or loved ones to continue living in the comforts of home at the end of each day throughout their lifetime.
