Parolee arrested following robbery at Howe Avenue bank

Published: Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 - 4:52 pm

A 21-year-old man was arrested this morning, accused of robbing a Howe Avenue bank a short time earlier.

About 10:20 a.m., a man entered a bank in the 400 block of Howe Avenue and passed a note to a teller demanding cash. After receiving the money, he left on foot, according a Sacramento Police Department news release. Neither victims nor witnesses reported seeing any weapons during the incident.

Officers who arrived in the area shortly after the robbery found a shirtless man who matched the physical description of the suspect provided by witnesses. The man, later identified as Jeffrey Houston (pictured), briefly tried to hide from officers near a residence, police officials said.

As Houston was being detained, other officers found cash on the ground in the area where Houston was first observed. Police said witnesses subsequently identified Houston as the robbery suspect.

He was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of robbery and violation of parole.
