Frigidaire Professional 5-speed blender

From Electrolux/Frigidaire

How much: $129.99 suggested retail price.

Where to buy: Available at Sears, Best Buy, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Amazon.com and other home goods stores.

Pro: Easy to operate, this super-size blender is a workhorse. With a 56-ounce capacity and easy-pour spout, the large jar can hold a whole pitcher of margaritas while crushing ice in under 8 seconds. Yet this model is versatile enough to blend delicate soups or sauces (also in just a few seconds). The durable aluminum base looks sleek on the kitchen counter, and the glass jar is dishwasher safe.

Con: This model was recalled in September after the company received eight reports of breakage of the blade shaft assembly; no injuries were involved. That recall affected blenders sold before July 2013. The problem reportedly has been remedied.
