A woman booked into jail Wednesday after allegedly bumping a Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputy with her vehicle, prompting shots to be fired at her car.

The woman, Anna Jean Yi, was at the intersection of Kiefer Boulevard and Mayhew Road about 2 a.m. Wednesday when she got out of her car and waved for a deputy to stop.

Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the deputy got out of his squad car and spoke with Yi who exhibited “erratic behavior.” The deputy asked her to sit in her car and he went back to his car to call for a deputy expert in spotting drunken and drugged drivers.

Before the additional expert help arrived, the deputy went back to the woman’s car and told her to stay seated in the car. A struggle began and she got into her car and tried to drive away, hitting the deputy on the lower leg.

The deputy fired rounds at the fleeing vehicle but did not hit the woman. The deputy and many other officers pursued her several miles to a home in the 9000 block of Bramble Trail Way where she parked in a driveway, got out of the car and tried to run, said Bowman.

Yi was taken into custody and booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of being under the influence of a narcotic, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, resisting arrest, evading an officer and assault on an officer .

The deputy, an eight-year veteran of he department, did not seek medical treatment.
