The U.S. Marshals office in Sacramento is offering a reward for the suspected killer of a young woman in Winters earlier this week.

A wanted poster of William Carl Gardner III, 30, of Sacramento, requests that anyone with information contact the Winters police department or a task force charged with looking for him.

The Marshals office is offering a reward up to $2,000 for any information leading to Gardner’s arrest.

Gardner is suspected of killing Leslie Pinkston, 32, as she sat in her car in the farming community of Winters on Monday.

Gardner, who also goes by the name Malik Mahammad, is listed at 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds.

Gardner has a lengthy criminal record out of Sacramento County with arrests ranging from auto theft to domestic violence and criminal threats to drug possession and firearms violations, according to Sacramento Superior Court records.

Gardner faced charges of stalking and threatening Pinkston, a former girlfriend, earlier this year and was set to face trial on the allegations in December.

The Marshals office is assisting Winters police in the fugitive part of the investigation. The Marshals office task force has been working on finding Gardner since Monday.
