A private coach was arrested by Elk Grove police on suspicion of sending text messages and a photo to a 16-year-old girl that were of a sexual nature.
Anthony Mosley, 48, was arrested Tuesday for sending inappropriate texts. Detectives confirmed that Mosley trained and coached youth at Bartholomew Sports Park in Elk Grove but had not coached the teen he is accused of ‘sexting’ - sending sexually explicit material - police said.
Officer Chris Trim, spokesman for Elk Grove police, said that Mosley trained and coached football and track athletes.
“He was a personal coach, hired by parents and through word of mouth,” Trim said.
Police identified Mosley as a coach because officers want to know if he was sexting any young athletes.
The first report of the alleged misconduct toward the teen was made on Nov. 8. The girl told her parents that Mosley had sent messages of a sexual nature, Trim said.
“She did the right thing,” Trim said of the girl. “We want to make sure there are not other victims that received something graphic.”
Mosley was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of communicating with a minor with intent to commit a sex offense and distribution of lewd material to a minor.
