Offense: Michael Crabtree gets a highlight-reel catch and run, but the passing game still revolves around Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis. The latter scores his 10th touchdown of the season, high-hurdling into the end zone. Grade: B

Defense: Justin Smith and the defensive line manhandle a beat-up Rams offensive front and keep St. Louis out of the end zone until 18 second remained. With Patrick Willis healthier than he's been this season, the defense is peaking at just the right time. Grade: A

Special teams: Rams returner Tavon Austin goes nowhere against the 49ers coverage units and Phil Dawson hasn't missed a field goal since Week 4. The only concern: LaMichael James looks shaky on returns. Grade: B+

Overall: Joe Staley's injury looms large, especially with the Seahawks defense on the horizon. But the 49ers win their second straight game and also put some distance between NFC contenders Arizona and Chicago, both of which lost Sunday. Grade: A
