Searchers on Monday failed to turn up any sign of a couple who went missing from their boat on the Delta on Thanksgiving Day.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Marine Enforcement Detail searched the water with two boats, and detectives coordinated Search and Rescue teams. K-9 teams and volunteers searched the shore with a CHP airplane assisting from the air, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman.

Van Chanpenxi, 64, and Chantra Chanpenxi, 51, left Thursday to go fishing on the Delta. The couple has not been seen and has not contacted family since then. The U.S. Coast Guard found their unoccupied fishing boat in the water, north of the Rio Vista Bridge.

Bowman said the search for the couple will continue Tuesday.

Van Chanpenxi is described as Laotian, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He is bald and clean shaven, with brown eyes and wears glasses.

Chantra Chanpenxi is Laotian, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding the couple’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.
