Believers are also freethinkers

Re "Atheists "Out of the Closet in new billboard campaign" (Our Region, Dec. 2): While I agree that we all have the freedom to believe what we choose, I must take issue with some of the article. When Andrea Griffith states that, "Free to think for myself," is not an attack on religion, I disagree. It does imply that those of us with faith do not think for ourselves. I am Catholic, which I chose to be as an adult. I definitely think for myself and choose to believe most of what our church believes. Atheists keep saying that they are free thinking, as if they are the only people who are. I just don't understand the need for these billboards, as it seems faith is already being undermined and dismissed at every opportunity.
