Butte County sheriff’s officials have identified a suspect in the Thanksgiving Day shooting of a man in the Feather Falls area.
Jonathon Leonard Scott (pictured), 29, is sought on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. He is described as approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 220 pounds, with long reddish blond hair.
About 1:20 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a gunshot victim was being transported to a hospital by a relative. According to the caller, the victim had been shot in the face at an unknown address on Long Point Road in Feather Falls, sheriff’s officials said.
As deputies were responding to the area, they found the victim, who was parked on Lumpkin Road near Forbestown Road. Medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital.
When deputies arrived at the residence on Long Point Road, the suspect fled into a heavily wooded area. A search by deputies, assisted by a Butte County sheriff’s helicopter, failed to find the suspect.
However, a large illegal marijuana garden was found on the property during the search, authorities said.
Anyone with information regarding Scott’s whereabouts is asked to call the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 538-7671.
