In September 2012, Cynthia and Sophie Peterlin were killed by an alleged drunk boater at Englebright Lake. Have charges ever been filed?

Jeffrey Joel Sandow of Auburn is in Yuba County Jail awaiting trial in the deaths of a mother and daughter, Cynthia and Sophie Peterlin of Penn Valley.

Sandow, 55, was piloting a boat that collided with a boat in which the Peterlins were riding on Sept. 15, 2012.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate information website, he is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Sandow is charged with second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter with a DUI enhancement and driving a watercraft causing great bodily injury.

Cynthia Peterlin, 42, and her 12-year-old daughter, Sophie, were killed in the late-afternoon collision, and husband and father Paul Peterlin was injured, as was one of two passengers in Sandow’s boat.
