John Frisch, regional managing director of the Sacramento commercial real estate brokerage firm of Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank, has been named 2013 Sacramentan of the Year by the Sacramento Metro Chamber.
John Frisch has been a remarkable volunteer leader, having served through the years on nearly 15 boards, including the Salvation Army, the Active 20-30 Club, the Rotary Club, Sutter Hospitals Foundation, SACTO, St. Hope Academy, the American Heart Association and the Metro Chamber to name a few, said chamber board Chairwoman Martha Clark Lofgren. He has raised close to $10 million for our region in the last 20 years and has always done so with unparalleled enthusiasm and humor.
The chamber also named Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson as a special Regional Champion among its annual honorees, noting his efforts to keep the Sacramento Kings in the city and the projected economic benefits associated with construction of a new arena.
Other winners of annual chamber awards are: John Di Stasio, the Sacramento Municipal Utility Districts general manager and CEO, Businessman of the Year; Carol Burger, president of Folsom-based Burger Rehabilitation Systems Inc., Businesswoman of the Year; Sacramento-based consulting firm MMS Strategies, Small Business of the Year; marketing and communications specialist Erika Bjork with Sacramento Republic FC, the newly arriving minor league soccer team, Young Professional of the Year; Beverly Sandeen, vice chancellor, resource and economic development, with the Los Rios Community College District, Volunteer of the Year; Sacramento public relations firm Runyon, Saltzman & Einhorn Inc., Business Hall of Fame; and Sacramento-area businessman/consultant Charles Grix, Ambassador of the Year.
