Warming trend ahead for Sacramento region

One more night of freezing weather is predicted for the Sacramento region.

The low Wednesday night is expected to be 32 degrees. Then, Thursday night, a slight warming trend is expected to occur with an overnight low of 36 degrees forecast.

Valley temperatures are gradually warming after two cold air masses gripped the area for the past week, according to the National Weather Service.

Until the warming arrives, a cold and dry air mass will remain over Northern California Wednesday. The high today in the Sacramento region is expected to be 53 degrees.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS:

Today: Patchy fog before 10am. Widespread frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 32. Light and variable wind.

Thursday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 56. Light northwest wind.

Thursday night: Patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 36. Calm wind.

Friday: Patchy frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 57. Calm wind.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 57.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 61.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63.
