A team of gunmen burst into an Elk Grove jewelry store Friday evening, making off with cash and merchandise.

As many as six masked and armed men stormed Kenny G and Co. Fine Jewelers in the Laguna Pavilions shopping center at Laguna Boulevard and Bruceville Road about 6 p.m., forcing employees and customers to the ground, said Elk Grove police Det. Josh Magdaleno. Three employees and two customers were in the store at the time, Magdaleno said.

No one was hurt in the incident, which happened in a shopping center packed with holiday shoppers at the end of the work day.

Magdaleno said the men loaded into a dark-colored vehicle and sped north. Crime scene investigators continued to work into the night at the store and on the street seeking clues to the armed robbery.
