Warmer temperatures in the forecast for Sacramento

Warmer temperatures are in the forecast for Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s high temperature will hit 61 degrees in downtown. For Sunday, the high will stay near 59 degrees.

“We’re getting warmer air that’s building from the Pacific. The much colder air has shifted off east,” said weather service forecaster Karl Swanberg, noting that the normal temperature for this time of year is 54 degrees.

Clear skies will continue to dominate the region’s weather. The next chance of precipitation will be on Wednesday.

“We’ve got pretty much more of the same,” Swanberg said.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Saturday: Patchy frost before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 61. Calm wind.

Saturday night: Patchy frost after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 37. Light north wind.

Sunday: Patchy frost before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 59. Calm wind.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40. Calm wind.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 61.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 63.

Tuesday night: Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Wednesday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 59.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
