Kudos to: Andrew Stephens, trumpet player at Rio Americano High School

Accomplishment: Selected to play lead trumpet at the 2014 Grammy Camp – Jazz Session

Details: Stephens, 17, is among 32 high school students from around the country picked to perform in the all-star jazz band. The students will travel to Los Angeles in January to perform at various events surrounding the Grammy music awards.

Kudos to: Wells Fargo

Accomplishment: Helped fund various programs of the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services

Details: The company’s $110,000 donation will help to continue monthly food baskets for families and individuals, financial literacy classes and sustainable food production as part of the food bank’s partnership with farmers.

Kudos to: Leslie DeDora, founder of A Touch of Understanding

Accomplishment: A winner of USA Network’s 2013 Characters Unite Award

Details: The Granite Bay resident developed a program she has presented to schools that advocates empathy and respect for everyone.
