The city of Sacramento and the Sacramento Kings are expected this afternoon to release their much-anticipated draft environmental analysis of a planned new arena and ancillary development at the Downtown Plaza site. The report, which marks a major step forward in the arena project planning, will assess what kind of traffic, air quality, noise and other impacts the project is likely to cause. If any of those impacts are large, the Kings and city will be required to come up with mitigation plans, such as a plan to manage pre- and post-game traffic downtown.
The report will be open for public comment for 45 days, and is expected to be voted on by the City Council in spring.
The Bee will have a full report on the plans details on Sacbee.com early this afternoon.
