New app keeps parents in touch at Folsom Cordova Unified

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District has launched a mobile application giving parents, students and employees access to district resources and information, including school news, lunch menus, athletics, maps and message capabilities.

Users of the app, available for smart phones and tablets, can receive real-time “push” notifications in an emergency and can send messages to the district.

The free app includes links to Twitter, YouTube and Facebook as well as a portal for parents to pay with credit card for students meals and activities or purchases such as yearbooks.

Parents also can create an account enabling them to view their students’ activities with one log-in.

“We are showing the community that we value them by sending information,” Stephen Nichols, district spokesman, said in printed announcement. “Users can communicate their concerns or questions to district officials on the go.”

More than 4,000 district parents and employees participated in a survey that helped the district develop the app, which is available for download via Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
