Re "Downtown arena won't snarl traffic, study says" (Page A1, Dec. 17): Who does the city think it's kidding? The downtown arena's impact on evening commuter traffic will be a nightmare for homeward-bound central-city workers, many of whom are employed at the state Capitol and related businesses that operate past 5 p.m. The proposed arena location will bring downtown traffic to a virtual standstill. And what is the cost to taxpayers of having cops directing traffic at multiple intersections, as proposed? This is a poorly thought-out plan. As a taxpayer, I am appalled at the use of public dollars for this project and the lack of concern shown for those who must navigate downtown traffic on weekday evenings.
