Jordan Tonya Louise Peters, 45, an attorney and faculty member at California State University, Sacramento, is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing bodily injury.

The Placer County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges in October, and Peters has pleaded not guilty.

Peters was involved in an April 30 crash on Pleasant Grove Boulevard in Roseville that claimed the life of 69-year-old Robert Allen Weaver of Roseville and injured three other people. According to police, witnesses told officers that Peters’ vehicle had been seen being driven in an erratic manner on Pleasant Grove Boulevard, until it struck another eastbound vehicle that was stopped for a red light at Roseville Parkway, setting off a chain-reaction collision that involved several vehicles.

According to Placer County Superior Court online records, Peters is scheduled for a preliminary hearing and case assignment on Feb. 7.
