Food for fines

What: The Woodland Public Library will forgive $1 of overdue fines for every canned good donated through Dec. 31. (Foods in glass jars or with expired dates will not be accepted.) All food items are destined for the Yolo Food Bank.

Ettore collection

What: Ettore’s European Bakery commissioned Sharon Gerber to create art for its production facility. The 14 paintings, which illustrate fruits, pastries, cakes and coffee, will be displayed during an open house with treats from the bakery.

When: 8-10 a.m. today, 4-6 p.m. Thursday

Tamales class

What: An extra class has been added to teach how to make tamales. The hands-on session includes making masa and fire-roasted salsa, not to mention all the other steps to make this Latino cultural holiday favorite.
