MIAMI -- Notes and quotes from the Kings 122-103 loss to the Miami Heat:
*One of the early highlights for Miami came when LeBron James dunked over Ben McLemore in the first quarter on a play that will certainly make the rounds on highlight shows.
Just knowing LeBron, I knew they werent going to call that call (a charge on James), McLemore said. I was just playing my defensive principles. Going in, being the low man and taking the charge.
Said Kings coach Michael Malone: Ben is a fearless kid. I love his heart ... Some guys would duck and get of the way because they do not want be on the ESPN highlight tape. Ben is a competitor. He hates to lose.
Said James: As a defender it is a split second (decision) and if you make the wrong decision then that is what can happen. I have been fortunate enough to to be on the other end of a lot of those plays. It sucks that it was him too because I like him. I have been talking to him since he was in high school so that sucks.
Dwyane Wade credited McLemore for standing in and trying to draw the charge against the bigger James.
You are going to get dunked on sometimes, Wade said. Tough one for the young fella but had enough (guts) to do it.
*After a five-game stretch in which McLemore was shooting 6-for-35, hes bounced back lately, shooting 13-for-19 over his last two games, including 20 points against Miami to match his season high.
*A reporter asked Malone how he felt about how DeMarcus Cousins played tonight with 27 points on 11-for-15 shooting and eight rebounds:
We got blown out. Im not really pleased with how anybody played. offensively he was OK but his man (Chris Bosh) scored just as much as he scored and just as efficiently so Im looking at everything from a defensive perspective and we didnt have anybody give a good defensive effort tonight.
Bosh had 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting.
*Miami had 70 points in the paint and shot 61.4 percent, both highs for a Kings opponent this season.
*The Kings shot a season-worst 41.7 percent from the free throw line.
