Kings coach Michael Malone looks forward to having full practices when the Kings return from their road trip to address the problems they have had on defense.

Pregame notes: Kings repeating the same mistakes on defense

ORLANDO, Fla. Kings coach Michael Malone seems to repeat himself after every Kings loss.

And when he reviews each game, he sees the same problems defensively.

“I make the same notes, the same comments, the same clean ups its seems like every night,” Malone said.

Malone has tried to temper his frustration with the defensive breakdowns.

“What I’ve reminded myself, not as an excuse, but the reality is with one practice with these guys you’re almost teaching on the fly,” Malone said.

Malone said it’s unfair to expect Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy or Aaron Gray to know all the defensive principles.

The bigger problem is players that have been with the team all season are also making mistakes.

Malone hopes having full practices instead will help clean up the issues.

*Malone said he will look to cut back some of Isaiah Thomas’ minutes. That means more opportunities for Jimmer Fredette and possibly Ray McCallum. Rudy Gay will also relieve Thomas of point guard duties, too.

Prediction time: The Kings won’t practice again until Tuesday, meaning they won’t have time to work on the defensive problems they’ve had for at least two more games.

The Magic have players that can attack from the perimeter and get to the rim, something the Kings have problems with.

Magic 107, Kings 101

My record: 15-10
