Increased gun control won't decrease deaths

Re "What will trigger gun control?" (Letters, Dec. 19): Frank LeFevre's letter in support of gun control states that although guns have killed children, teens, members of Congress and presidents, nothing has changed. The writer does not address the fact that it’s criminals with guns who cause such deaths. In addition, the guns used in most violent crimes have been stolen or otherwise obtained illegally. Does the public really believe that criminals will use legal means to obtain weapons? I don't think so. And, yes, something has changed: Our gun control laws have never been stricter.
