Don’t blame guns for violence

Published: Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 - 11:10 am

Re "What will trigger gun control?" (Letters, Dec. 19): The previous letter writer doesn’t realize that it’s people, not guns, that kill people. Blaming the guns themselves is like saying that pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk and spoons make us fat. No matter how strictly gun control is imposed, criminals will always obtain guns. Likewise, although better gun education and training are needed, they will only benefit those who obey the law. People who insist on using guns for illegal purposes are to blame for gun violence. Most gun owners use their guns for recreational hunting, not illegal purposes.
