Holiday DUI crackdown to continue Friday with sobriety checkpoint in Rocklin

Published: Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 - 5:25 pm

Continuing their 20-day winter holiday crackdown on alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers, Placer County law enforcement agencies will conduct a DUI checkpoint in Rocklin on Friday night.

The checkpoint will be located on Stanford Ranch Road at Sunset Drive. On Saturday, a multi-agency DUI saturation patrol will be deployed in Rocklin, according to a news release from the Avoid the 7 Placer County DUI campaign.

Roseville and other jurisdictions within the county will conduct additional DUI-related enforcement activities, and all regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus their efforts on stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their normal shifts.

From 12:01 a.m. Dec. 13 through midnight Wednesday, officers representing the seven Placer County law enforcement agencies arrested 57 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, officials reported. That compares with 61 DUI arrests during the same 13-day period in 2012.

A sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint conducted Dec. 20 on Highway 49 in Auburn screened 758 drivers. Two were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and three were cited for driving without a valid driver’s license, officials said.

Motorists are asked to report drunken drivers by calling 911.
