Dry weekend predicted for Sacramento

It’s going to be a dry weekend for Sacramento.

“The general message is there’s not going to be a lot of change,” said National Weather Service forecaster Eric Kurth.

Today’s high temperature for downtown is expected to hit 62 degrees. Unseasonably high temperatures will continue into next week.

On Thursday, Sacramento Executive Airport recorded 66 degrees, breaking the all-time record of 63 degrees in 1967. Meanwhile, downtown Sacramento tied its record of 65 degrees, also set in 1967.

“We’ve been about 10 degrees above normal,” Kurth said.

Regional air quality officials have instituted a burn ban, which prohibits any burning of wood or solid fuels.

Current weather patterns are trapping particulate matter closer to the ground, Kurth said, making the air quality “tough.”

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Friday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Patchy frost before 11 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
