New Year’s Eve is expected to be dry with mild temperatures across Northern California as a high pressure system stays fully entrenched over the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS forecasts the new year to ring in with temperatures ranging from the 20s in the mountains to 40s in the Sacramento Valley. Predicted midnight temperatures: Sacramento, 43 degrees, Woodland, 43, Roseville, 41, Yuba City, 41, Auburn, 48, Placerville, 45, Lodi, 44, Jackson, 45, Kyburz, 33, Donner Pass, 31 and South Lake Tahoe, 26.
No rain is forecast through the remainder of the year for Sacramento. With the absence of any more precipitation on Monday and Tuesday, this month will be the seventh driest December on record.
Only .38 of an inch of rain fell this month in Sacramento, which is just 11 percent of average for December. The wettest December occurred in 1955 when 12.20 inches of rainfall was recorded.
