Lake bed tourists leave trash behind

Re "Folsom Lake's drop exposes lost town" (Our Region, Jan. 1): Folsom Lake's bed is a great place to explore, and with articles like this and recent television news coverage, people are coming out in great numbers. Yesterday, I counted 97 from one location. But many visitors are leaving their trash behind. From the Mormon Island Dam access, there were eight dog waste bags along the trail. Many empty beverage containers and food wrappers were recently discarded in the lake bed, and I'm not referring to old trash that is exposed now that the water has receded. There are no trash cans in the lake bed, so people need to pack their trash out. Nobody else is going to pick it up.
