Yuba County authorities suspect a landscaper of raping two women employees.

Pasqual Atanacio Gonzalez, 46, of Yuba City was arrested by the Yuba County Sheriff’s deputies on Dec. 14.

Gonzalez is suspected of raping a 35-year-old Yuba City woman in his car on Dec. 12 at a secluded area in Plumas Lake. It was the woman’s first day of work for Gonzalez.

Gonzalez attempted to rape her a second time the next day, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department. She then reported the sexual assaults to Yuba City police.

Following the arrest of Gonzalez, a 29-year-old Yuba City woman, who also once worked for the landscaper, reported that she was also raped by Gonzalez.

She said that about 4 months ago Gonzalez drove her to a secluded area in Plumas Lake and “sexually battered” her, according to the release. A week later, using a ruse to get her to accompany him, Gonzalez again drove her a secluded area in Plumas Lake where he raped her, according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman said she was also raped a second time by Gonzalez about a month later.

The second alleged victim came forward to authorities on Dec. 16. Gonzalez was then arrested for the alleged sexual assaults on the 29-year-old woman.

Detectives are contacting past employees of Gonzalez’ business.
