7-year-old girl from Antioch found after Amber Alert issued; suspect held

Published: Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 - 10:06 pm

Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Friday night for a 7-year-old Antioch girl but the CHP reported two hours later that the girl was recovered and a suspect held.

Natalie Calvo was abducted Friday by David Douglas, according to Antioch police.

Shortly after midnight Saturday, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando issued a statement on Facebook, praising the department for “diligently working leads, gathering information and coordinating this investigation.”

Cantando said that within the hour, Douglas was apprehended and the girl recovered.

Initially, authorities had said the abductor may have been armed with a long black gun. The man was last seen leaving the child’s residence in the 3800 block of Hummingbird Way in Antioch in what was described as a gold Honda.

About 11:30 p.m., the CHP Golden Gate Twitter account said the girl was recovered with a suspect in custody.
