How dry is it?
It has rained just four days in Sacramento since Nov. 1. Sacramento normally gets 16 days of measurable rain during November and December, according to the National Weather Service.
Also, it has nearly been a full month since it last rained in Sacramento. The last recorded rainfall was Dec. 7 when .03 of an inch fell.
The high pressure system that has remained stubbornly in place during the dry spell, is expected to lose strength over Northern California as several weak weather systems pass through, according to the NWS.
The oncoming weather systems are expected to bring cloudy skies, cooler daytime temperatures and a slight chance of showers, mainly over the northern mountains this week.
