Our land may be next parched valley

Re “A Parched Valley” (Page A1, Jan. 5): We have heard the tale before. Over a century ago, officials in Los Angeles began to deliver water from Owens Valley to their greedy city. Today, it isn't necessary for Los Angeles to resort to dishonesty to acquire more water. They have California's governor and legislators willing to build giant tunnels to provide them with water from the Delta. If this absurd experiment is completed, the Delta and fertile Central California farmland soon will be known as the Scorched Plateau unless we in Central and Northern California can find water someplace else. Perhaps Oregon will come to our rescue. But we must not allow Los Angeles officials to discover our new water source, or they will want that water as well.
