El Dorado County officials are launching construction this week on a major new Highway 50 interchange at Silva Valley Parkway. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Thursday afternoon for the facility, which will cost $57 million.
The new freeway connection, a half mile east of the El Dorado Hills/Latrobe Road interchange, will help support planned further development in the area, officials said. The interchange also ultimately will be the end point for the planned Capital Southeast Connector, an alternative route into and out of Sacramento County. The Capital Southeast Connector likely will involve widening Grant Line and White Rock roads between the city of Elk Grove on the southwest end and the Silva Valley Parkway exchange on the northeast end.
A kick-off ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the southeast corner of Silva Valley Parkway & White Rock Road.
