Re "City's arena financing plan appears workable" (Editorials, Dec. 14): Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and some city politicians are obsessed with building the Kings a new arena with public money. If the mayor and others at City Hall should be using their creative financing plans to ensure that 200 more policemen were on the streets. The mayor should be looking at creative financing to add to and maintain the city park system, as well as address the needs of our decomposing and leaking water and sewer lines. Parks, low crime rates, museums and clean, safe neighborhoods are what make a good city, not a low-end basketball team that ESPN named "the worst franchise in professional sports." The mayor needs to wake up and start representing the good people of Sacramento, not a Bay Area billionaire and a few special interests.
