Celebrity chef-restaurateur Robert Irvine is here, there and everywhere, including on the Food Network and the Cooking Channel with his hit shows “Restaurant: Impossible,” “Restaurant Express” and “Dinner: Impossible.”
Now he’s bringing his chops, so to speak, to the Crest Theatre in “Robert Irvine Live,” a “high energy” two-hour show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
What’s on the agenda? The British-born Irvine will take on “culinary challenges chosen at random by the audience” and wheel those into cooking demonstrations on the stage.
But wait, there’s more: The audience will also take a video trip through Irvine’s 25-year career. As a member of the British Royal Navy, he cooked aboard Her Majesty’s Royal Yacht Brittania and worked in the Naval Mess in the West Wing of the White House. In a second career, he was executive chef on several cruise ships.
Irvine is every bit as buff as he appears on TV (he travels with a personal trainer), and as funny and manic. He was a hit at the fourth annual South Lake Tahoe Food & Wine Festival in November, preparing several exclusive dinners and delivering a rollicking cooking demo in the South Shore Room at Harrah’s. That night, in a classy move, he introduced his wife to the crowd. Afterward, fans lined up for autographs and photo ops. It was easy to see why.
