Meat-lovers, this one's for you: In recognition of National Pastrami Day (Jan. 14), the Togo’s sandwich chain is giving away 10,000 pastrami sandwiches, or a total of 2,500 pounds of herbed, smoked and sliced beef.

Right now, customers can sign up for an email coupon (one per person) for a free pastrami sandwich, valid only on Jan. 14. To get yours, go to or

Part of the promotion is the return of the Pastrami Pounder Challenge. Finish a two-foot-long sandwich stuffed with a pound of pastrami within 30 minutes and you'll win a commemorative hat and a certificate immortalizing your feat. Plus, your photo will be posted on Togo's Facebook page, if you wish. The monster sandwich is $20.

What if you buy a Togo’s pastrami sandwich and don’t like it? That’s easy: It comes with a guarantee from Renae Scott, Togo’s VP of marketing. “Togo’s has sold more than 40 million pastrami sandwiches since 1971. If you don’t agree our pastrami beats the other guys’, you get your money back.”

We wonder if competitive eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is allowed to play...
