Re "Public has tools to rate state's colleges" (Forum, Dec. 29): A good deal of the information discussed can be found for four-year colleges and universities at www.collegedata.com. The statistics given are generally for students who enter as freshmen. A real problem is finding data about community colleges in general and about transfer students at four-year colleges. The data is either not published or appears in a cumbersome report. It would really help to have a college fact sheet on every college's website, formatted the same way, or at a centralized website as proposed by Brice Harris, chancellor of California Community Colleges. However, colleges could misrepresent their data easily. Additionally, data concerning the percentage of students obtaining jobs after community college would reflect not just their education but also the health of the local economy since community college students often do not relocate.
