Re "Don't let progress in Afghanistan go without a fight" (Editorials, Jan. 4): I believe the image of progress made in Afghanistan and Iraq is a lot larger in The Bee editorial than the news articles from military and CIA experts lead me to believe. Despite the longtime presence of U.S. military troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, their armies and police cannot keep control. Their culture and politics are not the same as ours, nor do they want to be like us. We need to stay out of the Middle East. We have more than enough problems to solve in the United States right now.
