Governor's water grab can’t be justified

Re "Water greed is a threat" (Letters, Jan. 7): Steve Miller's recent letter hit the nail on the head. Gov. Jerry Brown's water grab is no different than what Los Angeles did to Owens River Valley. Arguments can be made about the greater good and that the farmers were not deceived and got paid for their land. But the reality is that greedy politicians and developers with inside information and opportunities to make millions hid their motives and what would happen to the valley once the aqueduct was built. Gov. Brown is doing the same thing by trying to steal water from Northern California to send it south, touting the greater good and revising his peripheral canal pipe dream. At the very least, the current drought situation and low water levels in Folsom Lake should everyone up as to how fragile our water situation becomes when any is taken away.
