Ruling on Sheldon basketball transfers expected this week

After months of investigation into student-athlete transfers in the Sheldon High School basketball program, the Huskies will soon learn of any sanctions, perhaps as soon as tonight.

The Huskies, four-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division I winners under coach Joey Rollings, have been investigated by the Elk Grove Unified School District over the number of transfers - up to six - that arrived on the south Sacramento campus at the beginning of this academic year.

Some rival programs have alleged that the Huskies used undue influence to sway athletes.

Others have challenged the residential eligibility of the athletes. CIF rules stipulate that students must live within their school boundaries.
